The Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus are the largest fraternal order for Catholic men in the world. The Knights are the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in the United States in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, there are more than 1.8 million members in 15,000 local councils. Dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism, the Knights of Columbus organize and participate in numerous charitable activities each year that are designed to benefit their parish communities, to help brother Knights grow deeper in their faith as Catholic men, and to serve the needy and less fortunate in the world.
Our council is named after the parish's namesake, St. Alphonsus. Newly formed in October 2010, the St. Alphonsus Council has a strong group of motivated new Knights from all walks of life, with our numbers now 50 strong and growing. In keeping with our call to be "men of action and men of faith", it is our goal to become a vibrant organization, contributing to the entire parish this coming year.
We are always looking for new members, and would welcome the practicing Catholic men of the parish and surrounding community to join our ranks. Our general meetings are held at the Lower Church on the third Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM. To find out more information about the Knights of Columbus here at St. Alphonsus, feel free to contact Joe Fusz, our Grand Knight. For membership inquiries, please contact Neal Boyle.
