Mass Setting

Music Director Brian Bloye has composed a new Mass setting: Mass in Honor of St. Alphonsus. Click here to hear samples.

The Choirs of St. Alphonsus

The choirs of St. Alphonsus are dedicated to excellence in liturgical music. We seek to inspire and lead the assembled worshipers each Sunday in a variety of hymns, songs, and great choral music. Each choir has a unique role in the parish's life.

The St. Alphonsus Choir

The St. Alphonsus Choir sings at the 10:30 AM liturgy each Sunday from October through Corpus Christi.

In addition to leading congregational song, we sing a variety of challenging, often unaccompanied choral repertoire: four- to eight-part anthems in all styles, Latin Masses and motets, chant, Gospel spirituals, and newly-composed music.

The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM, followed directly by the 10:30 Mass. We meet one evening per month to prepare for larger works and liturgical feasts.

For more information, contact Brian Bloye.

The St. Alphonsus Ensemble

The St. Alphonsus Ensemble leads the music at the 5:00 PM liturgy on Sundays from October through Corpus Christi. Singers are joined by piano, bass, percussion, and other instruments. The music has a contemporary appeal, and can be both energizing and reflective. We rehearse on Sundays at 3:30 PM, just before Mass.

For more information, contact Brian Bloye.

The Spanish Choir

The Spanish choir at St. Alphonsus sings at the 12:15 PM liturgy each week, and has additional rehearsals as scheduled. New director Johanna Ortegon is excited to work with this enthusiastic group of singers and instruments.

For more information, contact Johanna Ortegon.

The German Choir

The German choir at St. Alphonsus has sung under the direction of Alfred Schoepko for more than 50 years. The choir sings the first Sunday of each month at the 9:15 AM liturgy. At Christmas and Easter, the German and 10:30 choirs combine to form a festival ensemble of more than 60 singers.

Voices of St. Alphonsus
A Concert to Benefit the Peace & Justice Committee

Soloists from the St. Alphonsus choir will present a short concert after the 5:00 p.m. Mass this Sunday, December 4th. Accompanied by pianist Brian Bloye, they will sing a variety of songs about the evening, the darkness of night, and the transition from summer to winter.

Music by Samuel Barber, Chopin, Poulenc, and many others will be featured. The audience will participate at beginning and end, with hymns about the evening!

The Peace and Justice Committee will be on hand to provide light refreshments and drinks. There is a free will offering, and all money raised will go to support the Peace and Justice Committee of our parish.
